A year ago, the SEC ran away with the prize of top conference in college basketball by producing a whopping 14 NCAA Tournament teams. That remarkable Selection Sunday was made possible by a 59-19 record against teams from the other four high-major leagues. This time around, the league breakdown is far more even.

"Colleges haven’t really been evaluated through a gender lens before, which I find astonishing," Gender Fair's Amy Cross said.

The top Ann Arbor-area girls basketball teams have hit the ground running this season and it’s time to look at how the premier squads stack up. While there are no undefeated teams, the top squads have still earned some key victories early in the season.
