Hurricane Melissa is barreling into the Caribbean island of Jamaica on Tuesday, Oct. 28, with sustained winds over 180 mph, potentially more than two feet of rain and a life-threatening storm surge.

British tourists in Jamaica have been told to prepare as the island’s strongest storm on record closes in.

"Today will be very difficult for tens of thousands, if not millions of people in Jamaica," IFRC's Necephor Mghendi said via video link from Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago.
