A wildfire near Bordeaux, France, has burned 3,100 hectares (7,660 acres) of forest, forcing more than 20,000 residents and tourists to evacuate. Some 700 firefighters are working to contain the blaze and prevent flames from reaching homes as winds shift unpredictably.

Thousands of firefighters are battling massive wildfires across Spain and France this week, as climate change spurs heat waves that have lengthened the fire season in Europe, fire scientist Guillermo Raine told CBS News’ Ramy Inocencio.
