Today’s 75th Ranger regiment can trace its history from French and Indian War of the 1700s through to current contingency and combat operations in support of the Global War on Terror. Forty years ago today, on February 3, 1986, the lineage and honors of the six Ranger Battalions of World War II, alongside the Rangers of Merrill’s Marauders, the eight Ranger companies of the Korean War, the fifteen separate companies of the Vietnam War, and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Battalions, 75th Infantry (Ranger)
