The curtsy box step up is a fantastic way to build both mobility in hip rotation and lateral hip strength. Cross one leg over the other, and with control, push the box away to step up on it while trying to minimize the “jump“ off of the back leg. If you can’t get up on the box without a significant hop off of the back leg, it might be worth going to a lower box or lighter weights.
